KING'S KIDS

I was a little disturbed to come across this logo for the "youngers" of the Kingshold boys gang, the 'King's Kids'. Kingshold Estate is in Hackney and was more recently in the news due to the alleged gang rape of a 14 year old girl there by several teenagers associated with the Kingshold boys.

This logo looks like it could have been designed for a church youth club or Sunday school group. In fact it is far darker and shows the deep association that these young boys have with their estate... so much so that they are children of the estate, as if Kingshold Estate itself has taken on the identity of a parent to raise them.

These "youngers" are destined to follow the path already travelled by the "olders" (many of whom are now already in prison) unless the light of the true King of Kings breaks in...

The myspace logo of the older members of the Kingshold boys equally has a dark twist, and is a distortion of the biblical phrase "King of Kings":

These self-crowned kings use their power to abuse and intimidate others, and it is said that in the trial for the gang rape not one of them showed any sign of remorse or guilt.  It is as if they have become completely cold and emotionless.

I want to speak life into this estate and it seems to me that the name "Kingshold" is deeply significant. I believe God has impressed on my heart that the deeper meaning of this phrase in a spiritual sense shows that the boys are in fact held in the arms of the true King of Kings - in the hold of the King... I pray that this would become true for the Kingshold boys. I pray that the strongholds of darkness would be broken and these boys would take hold of all that they can be as they submit themselves to the embrace of the King.
