BLOOD SHEDDERS

Last year, God spoke to me powerfully about his heart for the young gang members intent on murder.  I saw some graffiti written on a wall in Bow, which said "BLOOD SHED". The words were scrawled in red paint in various forms on walls and garage doors. I didn't know what the words meant when I saw them, but I realised not soon after as some young people at the school where I work were talking about a gang in Bow called "The Blood Shedders".

From what the students at my school told me, the children in this gang are particularly violent and have gruesome names such as "Grim" and "Sawn-Off Kid". Many have been excluded from school and they roam the Roman Road in Bow, wearing red bandanas, the colour of blood.

God spoke to me through a play on the words, "Blood Shedders", impressing deeply on my heart:

"My blood was shed for them"

The Blood Shedders are intent on shedding blood, but Jesus reverses the power of their sin and shed his own blood for the blood shedders...
